Verizon Wireless has launched its first Windows Mobile based folder style smartphone for its BroadbandAccess EV-DO network, the Pantech PN-820. Aimed more toward consumers rather than business users, the Pantech PN-820 includes features like a 1.3 megapixel camera to make it more appealing to its target demographic.

On top of the standard array of Windows Mobile 5.0 features like full PIM support and mobile web browsing with Internet Explorer, the Pantech PN-820 also includes a miniSD memory card slot, Bluetooth, a 2.2″ LCD color internal display, and a 1.07″ LCD color external display.

The device measures up at 97.5mm x 51.6mm x 19.8mm (3.84″ x 2.03″ x 0.78″), weighs 111.1g (3.92oz), and includes a battery capable of 200 minutes talk time or 145 hours standby. Speakerphone and voice command functionality are built in, and the Pantech PN-820 is compatible with Verizon’s BroadbandAccess Connect system, allowing the device to be connected to a PC as a modem for Verizon’s EV-DO network.

The Pantech PN-820 from Verizon Wireless is available now from the company’s website for US$149.99 after a US$100 online discount and two-year service agreement.
