O2 Germany had suddenly stopped its sales of the stylish Toshiba TG01 smartphone. The unofficial news was that there had been an unexplained virus doing its rounds, because of which this whole mess occurred.
Anyhow, things seem fine now, as the Windows Mobile/Snapdragon running smartphone is back for sale on the carrier, at least online. We still do not know if retail shops have restocked themselves yet. We’ll let you posted on how things progress on this front.

The latest smartphone making waves is the LG GW600 for AT&T. This good-looking Windows Mobile powered device includes a 20-key layout, WiFi, 3G and GPS. The good news here is that the phone has passed the FCC, which means, we are sure to hear more about this cutie very soon.
The FCC manual mention handwriting support, but we cannot confirm this might be true just as yet. So we are just waiting for this one to feature on AT&T or eBay or something like that.

Skype 3.0 for Windows Mobile now offers a host of new features. With this new service, users can now send files through a Skype-to-Skype session, including Word docs and Excel spreadsheets.
Skype 3.0 also offers users the facility of sending SMS messages from within the app itself, while being connected via Wi-Fi. This is particularly useful when users are on roaming abroad. The new version will be free once it comes and will also include better interface features. Stay tuned for more.

We have some fresh rumors on the successor of the popular Samsung Omnia smartphone. From what we have heard about the upcoming device, it will be known both as the Omnia2 and i8000. Specs-wise, two very important improvements are mentioned:
• 8.1 megapixel camera with dual-flash LED and ability to record video in VGA resolution at 30 fps
• 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA (480×800 pixels) touchscreen with 16 million colors
Additional info is that the TouchWiz UI will keep running the show on top of Windows Mobile, but will get a refresh. Samsung will have a press event on June 15th and maybe we will hear something on Omnia2 then. The original Omnia has been around for some time, so we think it is time that a new version comes in soon.
