Motorola yesterday announced the availability of its MOTOSURF A3100 in Malaysia. This 3G touch tablet smartphone gives users a highly customizable touchscreen, seamlessly providing them with access to a variety of advanced features, such as Internet access, staying in touch with friends, high-speed Internet downloads, access to RSS Feeds, news, e-mails, Facebook, YouTube and much more.

The home screen of the Motorola MOTOSURF A3100 is layered on top of Windows Mobile 6.1 software and offers up a huge range of applications that can all be accessed with the tip of the finger, a stylus, or using the built-in omni-directional trackball. The stylish smartphone gives fast, PC-like access to IE and Opera, supports videoconferencing and aGPS, HSDPA, HSUPA and Wi-Fi. The A3100 has a clear 2.8”display, plus Windows Media Player, which allows quick transfer and download of music. Motorola Malaysia offers two additional application, SongID, which gives song info and ShoZu, which allows you to share photos online, to all MOTOSURF A3100 users. This smartphone also gives a 1GB microSD card slot. MOTOSURF A3100 retails at MYR1,999 is available at all leading retail outlets.

Motorola has today announced the very latest addition to its rugged team of enterprise digital assistants, the MC55. The Motorola MC55 smartphone is powered by Mobile 6.1. Additionally, it offers quad-band GSM/EDGE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios on board. Other specs include a 2MP autofocus camera, 1D/2D scanners and 3.5” touchscreen display.

One version of the MC55, christened the MC5574, features a full QWERTY keyboard and the other version, named MC5590, has the standard 12-key dialpad. Both these rugged phones are VoIP and PTT enabled. Information on pricing is not here with us yet, but both these versions will be available in select markets only. Sprint has officially made an announcement that will make most of you mobile freaks out there, really happy. Sprint has said that the Windows Mobile 6.1 powered Palm Treo Pro would ship along with the Internet Explorer Mobile 6 browser installed within it. The IE Mobile 6 browser is often referred to as “6 on 6” because it is completely based on the desktop IE 6 engine. This has also joined the latest AKU 1.4 release of Windows Mobile 6.1. Additionally, this will also be available on some other new Windows Mobile 6.1 run devices that fulfill the minimum required configuration of 128MB RAM and 400MHz processor.

We had never expected this move so fast, as we were told that IE Mobile 6 would come into the picture only after Windows Mobile 6.5 powered devices entered the market. Anyway, the Palm Treo Pro is scheduled for arrival on the 15th of March, so we have only a short wait ahead.
