The 2009 Mobile World Congress has brought us a lot of news from the world of mobile communication. The latest and hottest news is that Skype and Nokia have jointly announced that they will be getting together to bring the world’s premier Internet communication experience to the Nokia range of mobile computers. According to the announcement, Skype will be integrated into Nokia devices, commencing with the Nokia Nseries, the Nokia N97 being the first device to incorporate Skype within itself. This service will start from Q3 2009.
Skype integrated into Nokia will enable users to see which of their global Skype contacts are online and also send them instant messages. Additionally, Nokia N97 users will be able to use 3G and WLAN to receive free Skype-to-Skype voice calls, plus the usual low-cost landline and mobile calls Skype offers its users. Now, doesn’t that sound almost too good to be true?
