We have always been mad after the Casio G’zOne line of rugged phones for Verizon Wireless. The Casio EXILIM C721 was exhibited at the CES 2009, so we were just waiting to hear more about this multimedia clamshell phone. This is the very first 5.1MP camera phone with a 3x optical zoom to be introduced by a US carrier.

Though it looks very much like the usual camera phone, it is actually very rugged and water resistant as well. The general form factor and the camera, though hyped so much, are not too impressive. What strikes us the most, though, is how tough the phone really is.

Remember we had brought you a couple of videos on the upcoming Nokia rugged phone, just a few days back (Click here to go to original post)? Well, the company has now introduced the Nokia 3720 classic rugged phone, an IP-54 certified device that is designed to be dust, shock and water resistant.
Encased in a tough material, it is also completely sealed so as to protect its inner electronic circuits. Other specs include LED flashlight, 2.2” QVGA display, 20MB memory, microSD card slot and 2MP camera.
This thing weighs only 94 grams and is supposed to retail in the market for about EUR 125 before taxes. As far as we know, the Nokia 3720 classic will be coming in summer in grey or yellow colors.
Are you the kind who would simply love to own a rugged phone? While Nokia phones are usually tougher than other brands and can take quite a few hits and falls without getting damaged too soon, the company is also thinking of coming out with a new rugged phone. According to the Nokia Conversations site, Nokia is now previewing its rugged phone with a series of tough tests.
We have got our hands on the videos of the first two tests and will be coming out with more in the near future. Hold on tight to your seat belts, watch the videos and enjoy!
Here is a video of the new MilSpec qualified Samsung a657, a rugged phone of a push to talk phone being offered on AT&T’s 3G network. The rugged Samsung a657 is built to withstand all sorts of hostile environments, including water, dust, shock, and vibration. Take your first look at the design and some of the features of the a657, including its built-in flashlight.
The display, as you can see, is small, and the phone lacks a camera, but otherwise the design seems really solid. The body is made of a couple of different impact resistant hard rubbers that offer both grip and protection, and the nice red seal around the battery compartment keeps out the water. Watch and enjoy!
