Ok, here’s the howler of this week, guys. We always knew that Bell would be the official carrier for the Palm Pre in Canada. Now Bell has introduced its new “You Could Win A 3G Palm Pre Contest”, which will supposedly give away a Palm Pre to one lucky participant. Of course, this is great – getting your hands on a Palm Pre, that too free, is almost too good to imagine. But there’s something hilarious that happened here.
When you visit the page that gives you the entry rules, it opens a PDF document that, on the header is a picture of the Palm Treo Pro and not the Palm Pre. Click here to go to that page and you’ll know what we’re talking about.
There is one more thing here. The contest rules state that the “approximate retail value” of the device is $650 CDN. So we can probably assume that this device will cost $649.95 outright, for an unlocked version of the smartphone. Click here if you want more info on the contest. This one goes on till August 31st. Go ahead and try your luck, guys!
The Palm Treo Pro smartphone from Sprint is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and includes many powerful features such as email, Wi-Fi, GPS, full keyboard and touchscreen. Additionally, the TurboApps application allows users to submit insurance applications, get quotes and finish the entire application process right from their handhelds.
The Sprint Palm Treo is available for $199. We bring you a two-part video review of the smartphone.
Here is a video demo of the new Sprint version of the Palm Treo Pro, the very first Windows Mobile smartphone to include the latest Internet Explorer 6 browser. This browser, based on the IE6 engine, is pretty powerful, with support for Flash and gives a PC feel while working on it. Of course, it does get slow sometimes, in spite of Palm Treo Pro’s 528MHz CPU. All-in-all, though, this is definitely worth the experience. Watch both the parts of the Palm Treo Pro demo and let us know what you think.
Sprint has officially made an announcement that will make most of you mobile freaks out there, really happy. Sprint has said that the Windows Mobile 6.1 powered Palm Treo Pro would ship along with the Internet Explorer Mobile 6 browser installed within it. The IE Mobile 6 browser is often referred to as “6 on 6” because it is completely based on the desktop IE 6 engine. This has also joined the latest AKU 1.4 release of Windows Mobile 6.1. Additionally, this will also be available on some other new Windows Mobile 6.1 run devices that fulfill the minimum required configuration of 128MB RAM and 400MHz processor.
We had never expected this move so fast, as we were told that IE Mobile 6 would come into the picture only after Windows Mobile 6.5 powered devices entered the market. Anyway, the Palm Treo Pro is scheduled for arrival on the 15th of March, so we have only a short wait ahead.
