RUMOR: Next Palm WebOS Device Will Be Named Palm EOS

While Palm Pre CDMA will be available by May or June, rumors a new Palm WebOS have now leaked, which will supposedly be released for AT&T network in US. Unlike the Palm Pre, the GSM Palm EOS is said to have the traditional Treo design. It is believed that this smartphone will have a QWERTY keyboard below the touchscreen, but will be slimmer than the Treo smartphone series.

According to some online sources, the Palm EOS has a codename Castlen and is actually the successor of the Palm Centro. There is no mention yet about the availability date. But we know this much – at just 10.6 mm thickness, this is supposed to be one of the thinnest of smartphones.

Other specs of the Palm EOS are said to include 2MP fixed focus camera with flash, Bluetooth 2.1, 4GB storage, SMS, MMS and A-GPS.

PreBerry Is The New Palm Pre Theme For BlackBerry Storm

A new WebOS theme is now available to give your BlackBerry Storm a bit of Palm Pre-mojo look. The new WebOS theme, very rightly named PreBerry, imitates both the look and feel of the Palm Pre’s all-new mobile operating system. Following on the recently-canned TealOS theme for Palm OS smartphones, PreBerry offers BlackBerry Storm owners a chance to get in on the Pre-action all pre-release style.

PreBerry enables all sorts of theme customization and application integration, even emulating the WebOS’s “wave launcher” dock. The theme comes complete with a slew of high-quality WebOS-like application icons, so you can be sure that your Pre-experience is as accurate as possible. Of course, the capacitance touchscreen on the Palm Pre will make for a decidedly different touchscreen experience, so be warned, do not be under the illusion that PreBerry is going to be a good alternative to the actual WebOS.

PreBerry is on sale for $5.99. Click here to download PreBerry .

Unlocked Centro Launches In Two Wonderful New Colors

Granted that the Palm OS has evoked mixed reactions, but all said and done, we are sure you would love to own just about any smartphone, regardless of the OS, which costs you under $200, is unlocked, and has interesting design as well. The Palm Pre has taken the market by storm, but the cute li’l Centro is the very one that popularized the concept of low-end, affordable smartphones.

Now the Palm Centro is on sale, yet again, maybe the last batch in its current avatar. It also comes in two wonderful new colors, Ruby Red and Cobalt Blue. Previously, it was available only in Glacier White. Pick it up if you fancy the price, but also know that this one might just go into oblivion in the next few months or so. The choice is entirely yours to make….

VIDEO: PalmOS Emulator ‘Classic’ Demo

Palm proudly showed off MotionApps’ PalmOS emulator, dubbed “Classic,” as a means of run legacy Palm OS software on the Palm Pre’s brand-new WebOS. At CTIA Wireless 2009, one noted that the Classic beautifully recreated the old Palm OS environment on the Palm Pre.

Now you can watch a video below, which reveals exactly how powerful Classic actually is. The new video shows the Classic Palm OS emulator going full-bore with the 3D racing game GTS: World Racing. Classic will apparently only run applications designed for 320×320 displays. Apps specifically formatted for 320×480 displays are not supported. Also, Classic will only run one PalmOS application at a time and won’t support HotSync. Unfortunately, GPS, Bluetooth, accelerometers and phone features aren’t in the bag for Classic. It looks like older PalmOS applications will be restricted to the Classic “sandbox.”
