There is some interesting rumor doing its rounds in the mobile market and that is, Nokia is planning to make its Nokia Music Store DRM-free. During the opening ceremony of the Nokia Music Store and Comes With Music at Singapore, the director of global digital music retail at Nokia was heard saying that the company is planning to remove the hitherto existing DRM protection from its Nokia Music Store.
The Nokia Music Store at present has a brilliant library, comprising more than 4 million tracks, including both local and international artists. These tracks are protected with Microsoft’s PlayForSure DRM, which puts an upper limit on the number of phones and computers the songs can be played on. Even the 12 or 18-month Comes With Music program comes with its limitations.
Like we stated earlier, this is not confirmed yet, so we will all have to wait and watch for more information.
