Though a lovely handheld with a brilliant AMOLED display and fabulous 8MP camera and music player, we still felt something amiss. The UI, we felt, could have been improved. The Ovi Store app too was rather slow, so also the browser.

Nokia has today officially announced in a press release that it will be selling its N86 phones with support for 3G networks in the US. This phone, the company stated, would be available at Nokia flagship stores at Chicago and New York City.
The award winning Nokia N86, which is acknowledged as the ultimate imaging device, comes with an 8MP camera with dual LED flash and Carl Zeiss Optics. The phone’s 2.6” AMOLED display adds to the clarity and the beauty of the device. Thanks to Ovi services, users can easily access Maps and even share their multimedia content over the air with other users.
The Nokia N86 will be priced at $558.00 through the flagship stores and also online, at NokiaUSA.com, in the coming few weeks.
Announced in Feb this year, Nokia has finally announced that its Nokia N86 smartphone is now shipping globally with an estimated retail price of EUR 375 (about 475 USD), before taxes and subsidies. The Nokia N86 has a wide-angle Carl Zeiss optics and 8MP camera. The device also offers a 2.6-inch QVGA OLED screen with scratch resistant hardened glass, A-GPS, 3.5 mm headphone jack, FM Radio receiver, easy photo management, full sync capability with a PC and TV-out support for slide shows.
Other specifications of the Nokia N86 include GSM Quadband, HSDPA, Symbian S60, WiFi, Secondary video call camera, N-Gage, Bluetooth, A-GPS, TV-Out, 8 GB internal memory and microSDHC card slot.
When Nokia unveiled its N86 back in February, we had no idea whatsoever that a US release was on the cards. But now, it sure looks like a stateside launch is a lot closer, now that the said handset has made its way through the officious doorways of the FCC.
Seen here is a rather unclear photo of the Nokia Nseries phone, which includes an 8 megapixel, OLED-equipped dual-slider, with an American flavor added on. Sorry, though, folks, we have no idea about the dates of availability yet.
