The T-Mobile MDA Basic, an entry-level Windows smartphone, is T-Mobile’s own version of the HTC Touch Viva, except for a few more software upgrades. This very compact touchscreen handheld is not 3G, but does support WiFi, EDGE and Bluetooth. The T-Mobile MDA Basic has a 2MP camera and microSD card slot for expandable memory. Though it is referred to as the “MDA Basic”, it is actually quite advanced and offers a host of features.
This device uses HTC TouchFLO user interface technology (though not by default) and is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1, which helps it deliver a great performance. The buzz is that some German companies are already looking out for this phone, waiting for its arrival into the market.
The T-Mobile MDA Basic is set to make its entry sometime in February 2009. The pricing of this phone is a mere EUR 4.95 with a two-year contract and is ideal if you are thinking of purchasing an entry-level phone.

HTC Touch Viva was introduced a month ago together with the Touch 3G smartphone but their availability and pricing were unknown. Today we can report that the Touch Viva will be available this month in Hong Kong at price HKD 2,880.
Customers who purchase this handset will get a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional smartphone with 2.8” TFT-LCD QVGA touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM, Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz support, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and A2DP, Wi-Fi and microSD memory card support.

It measures 104.5 x 59 x 15.75 mm and weighs about 110g. It supports GSM/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz and GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.
Both devices will be available in early October 2008. Although not known about their release in the geographical markets, HTC says it will be released in a variety of markets.
