We have always been mad after the Casio G’zOne line of rugged phones for Verizon Wireless. The Casio EXILIM C721 was exhibited at the CES 2009, so we were just waiting to hear more about this multimedia clamshell phone. This is the very first 5.1MP camera phone with a 3x optical zoom to be introduced by a US carrier.

Though it looks very much like the usual camera phone, it is actually very rugged and water resistant as well. The general form factor and the camera, though hyped so much, are not too impressive. What strikes us the most, though, is how tough the phone really is.

The FCC site has one more inclusion today, that of the new Casio G’zOne mobile phone. The G’zOne, according to FCC documentation, is supposed to carry CDMA EVDO Rev.A and Bluetooth networks.
As far as we can see from the info in the files, this also seems like a clamshell phone, just like the previous G’zOne phones. So far, Verizon Wireless had been the official carrier for all Casio G’zOne mobile phones, but neither Verizon nor Casio has yet come up with any info on this one.

Last time we saw an EXILIM phone by Casio 3 months ago when KDDI released it in a clamshell design but with the same camera hardware – the Casio EXILIM W63CA. Today, the Casio decided to bring this handset to the light in a sliding design and for another leading Japanese carrier, SoftBank.
The Casio 930CA now got less, 3″ wide VGA (480 × 854) LCD display, but bigger memory support – up to 8GB for microSDHC cards. With 3G HSDPA high-speeds it features GPS, Bluetooth, Infrared, music playback, a mobile wallet, and an email capability. It’s available in four vivid colors: white, pink, rose-red, and black. Good job, Casio!
