Skype For iPhone Now Functional In The US

The latest news is the Skype for iPhone is now available in the US iTunes stores, completely free of charge. There are some minor glitches here, though. It looks like dialing over 3G is only working for those with OS 3.0 beta, but unfortunately all of us in that situation are now suffering from frequent crashes and loss of audio.

Things seem to be better for those running the latest non-beta firmware, but the calls only work over WiFi. That said, when using the app as intended, the audio quality was surprisingly good, far better than any third party apps we have used so far. Visit the Apple App Store and get your Skype for iPhone now.

VIDEO: Preview Of Apple iPhone OS 3.0 Beta.

Hi again, guys! Am back with an interesting video preview of the Apple iPhone OS 3.0 Beta. All those interested in knowing more about it, check out the video below and give us your feedback.

iPhone 3.0 SDK Offers Developers In-App Upgrades, Hardware Integration And Push Notifications

Apple recently announced developer-related details for its sought-after iPhone OS 3.0, a major update to all iPhone and iPod Touch devices. The company has now revealed details of an in-app purchasing system, push notifications, peer-to-peer connectivity, and much more.

In OS 3.0 SDK, developers can now charge customers for “in-app” purchases such as additional levels in games, subscriptions and any novel content after an app is purchased. The purchasing model will only be available in paid applications. Peer-to-peer connectivity permits the user automatic discovery of devices and supported applications wirelessly, over Bluetooth. Users of this technology can share contact information, compete in online games and so on.

iPhone OS 3.0 also enables accessory developers to build custom applications that connect directly with the iPhone hardware by way of a dock connector or over Bluetooth. It will also integrate a push notification system, instead of using a background processes system for applications, in order to save battery life and enhance general performance. A beta version of the iPhone 3.0 SDK is available to developers now.
