Samsung together with AT&T today introduced new rugged phone, the Samsung SGH-a837 Rugby, which is the first handset supporting Video Share calling and Push to Talk network available through AT&T. The clamshell device comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera with video capture, Bluetooth support, microSD memory card slot, and a-GPS function. The SGH-a837 has a military standard MIL-STD-810F to withstand dust, shock, vibration, rain, humidity, solar radiation, altitude and temperature extremes.
The Rugby measures 101.6 x 53.3 x 22.9 mm, weighs 133 g and also features a 2 inches 65k color TFT display with 128×160 pixels. The phone allows users to access to web, use messaging services of the AT&T and play music files via a MP3 player. Including dual-band 3G connectivity and quad-band GSM technology it’s available for $129.99 with a 2-year service agreement and after a $50 mail-in rebate. Customers may choose from yellow, burgundy or black color.
World’s leaders in mobile communications, the Samsung and LG, will add new additions to their lineup for US carriers. According to FCC documents, Samsung A837 is a rugged phone with clamshell form factor featuring a 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD support, Bluetooth with A2DP. It will also feature push-to-talk technology and will work in dual-band GSM/EDGE 850/1900.
The second model by Samsung, the T919 appeared at FCC site, will be available for T-Mobile customers. It will include HSDPA speeds, a MP3 player, internet browser and a-GPS function. The T919 also has a Bluetooth and GSM/EDGE 850/1850/1900 capabilities.
The last model, the LG VX9600 exclusively for Verizon Wireless, should include a 3″ LCD screen with 3D user interface, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, and MP3 player. The LG VX9600 may work in CDMA 850/1900 with EVDO datas. We also have to say these information aren’t 100% confirmed and they might be changed.
