Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Gets Firmware Update

Of course, the Nokia N97 is truly the star of the week, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is not lagging too behind either. This other S60 5th Edition device has now got its own NAM firmware boost this week as well.

The version 21.2.025 for 5800 XpressMusic does not impress one as having too many changes over the last one, but this could be viewed more as a stable release of the previous version. Well, Nokia seems to be targeting North America right now, which definitely is a positive move. Keep it up, Nokia.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Gets Flash Lite 3.1 Update

Normally, one would expect Flash Lite updates to be delivered via firmware bump, which is a long, frustratingly slow process that can take weeks or months across all regions and product codes for any given Nokia model. But things have changed now, thanks to a new version of Flash Lite that is now available to 5800 XpressMusic owners by a very different method.

The rarely-used App Update mechanism in newer versions of S60 is being used to push out Flash Lite 3.1, which is said to enhance web browsing, add Flash 9 support, MP3 streaming and add a whole lot of other goodies. And guess what? YouTube’s now more usable with this app. Let’s hope the Nokia N97 includes this one too, right?

Nokia Has Not Sold 13 Million 5800 XpressMusic Handsets After All!

Yesterday, many blogs had reported that Nokia has already sold 13 million of its very popular 5800 XpressMusic devices. Apparently, they picked that number from Forum Nokia North America’s, who claimed that the number had been reached in April this year. Well, guys, guess what? Nokia’s stunned and shocked spokesman was quoted saying, “We woke up to find a HUGE misquote. Exec said we shipped 13M 5800’s. He meant 13M Nokia 5310 XpressMusic. Please let folks know.”

Of course, this does not mean that the Nokia 5800 XM is not a capable device, quite the contrary. Only that it was released few months ago and the 13 million mark seems a far reach right now….

VIDEO: NOKLA Strikes Yet Again!

Guess what, guys? Here is an almost perfect duplicate of the most sought-after Nokia 5800 XpressMusic mobile phone. And the manufacturer is none other than NOKLA, the Hong Kong-based doppleganger. The fake version of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic phone is pretty neat, really.

They have actually gone to the lengths of copying the Finnish phonemaker’s handiwork, not to mention making use of the Symbian S60 5th Edition, even the wavy line-infused screen film. Could anyone ever get more “inspired”? The Vietnamese retailer, L. A. Digital, is selling it for 1,900,000 VND, or about $107 US.

Do check out the video below and you will be totally surprised by this look-alike.
