The Android Community website has now gotten their hands on the HTC Hero (it is still to be officially released) and have done an unboxing video and walkthrough of the smartphone. Please note that the packaging may be slightly different, as this is an unaffiliated generic whitebox model. But there are no differences in the basic model itself.
The Android Community thinks that this is the “best Android device to date” and that’s quite a feat for any smartphone to achieve till date! We have a short wait before we can let you know if there are any major changes in the US 3G version. Anyways, click here for AC’s video post.
RIM is now coming out like never before with its optical trackball feature. It was initially the Curve 8520 that adopted this feature. Now it’s the turn of the Onyx to be spotted with the optical trackball.
We, of course, had expected something of this sort, after having seen this 3G mix of the Curve 8900 and Bold smartphones. Well, we aren’t complaining – optical trackballs look stylish and they are of great use as well. We have no idea about availability – we’ll keep you posted when we come to know. At the moment, take a look at the pic below.
Ok, here’s the howler of this week, guys. We always knew that Bell would be the official carrier for the Palm Pre in Canada. Now Bell has introduced its new “You Could Win A 3G Palm Pre Contest”, which will supposedly give away a Palm Pre to one lucky participant. Of course, this is great – getting your hands on a Palm Pre, that too free, is almost too good to imagine. But there’s something hilarious that happened here.
When you visit the page that gives you the entry rules, it opens a PDF document that, on the header is a picture of the Palm Treo Pro and not the Palm Pre. Click here to go to that page and you’ll know what we’re talking about.
There is one more thing here. The contest rules state that the “approximate retail value” of the device is $650 CDN. So we can probably assume that this device will cost $649.95 outright, for an unlocked version of the smartphone. Click here if you want more info on the contest. This one goes on till August 31st. Go ahead and try your luck, guys!
