Skype Lite Now Available On Android And Java-Enabled Cell Phones
Skype has now announced the release of its ‘thin’ client for Skype, the Skype Lite, on Android-powered and many Java-enabled handhelds as well. The Skype Lite version is in the beta stage right now and is available for download onto your device. This works in tandem with your mobile service, helping you make VoIP calls.
Skype Lite for Android and Java-based mobile phones include capabilities like seeing which of your Skype contacts is online for chat, making Skype-to-Skype calls, Skype-to-landline calls at cheap rates, sending and receiving instant messages and receiving calls on your personal Skype phone number.
Presently, the lite version of Skype is available on the T-Mobile G1 in the US and the UK. If you would like to download Skype Lite onto your LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Nokia cell phones, do visit www.skype.com/m using your phone’s mobile browser or www.skype.com/go/mobiledownload on your personal computer.
