Samsung M8800 Pixon – more details revealed

We have reported about coming camera phone from Samsung a few days ago, but company just released more details on this highly anticipated handset. The Pixon with 8 MP camera supporting x16 digital zoom, auto-focus, fast-shutter, face detection and geo-tagging, is thick only 13.8mm.

The Pixon supports quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and HSDPA 7.2Mbps (2100MHz) data. It also features video recording and playing files including MPEG4, WMV, DivX, and XviD. In size 107.9 x 54.6 x 13.8 mm it weighs 121 g.

The phone will carry 3.2″ 240×400 262k TFT WQVGA LCD touch-capable display, Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0, TV out connection, 200MB of user memory + microSD support, a FM radio with RDS, and a music player supporting MP3, AAC, e-AAC+, and WMA music files. There was rumoured on many sites that the phone will be launched in mid-November but now the official release says the date is already following month (mid-October).

The Pixon is expected first to be available in France, then in Europe and later in Asian countries. But there is still one question: will it cost rumoured 550 EUR (800 USD)? Just wait and see.
