RIM to bring its developer tools too
After LG, RIM also announced its new developer tools especially for new BlackBerry Storm 9500, popular BlackBerry Bold 9000 and first flip handset, the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 Flip. The developer tools features BlackBerry Java Development Environment which allows users to develop software of handsets as well as desktop applications to enable simulation of the handsets.
Available versions for download are BlackBerry JDE v4.7 and BlackBerry JDE v4.6. The BlackBerry JDE v4.7 is development application for the new Storm while the BlackBerry JDE v4.6 is for the Bold and Pearl Flip.
The BlackBerry JDE v4.7 includes: Touch-Screen Support, Orientation and Rotation Support, Accelerometer Support, Virtual Keyboard Control, Camera and Media Integration and Set Homescreen Background Image.
BlackBerry JDE v4.6 together with BlackBerry JDE v4.7 include following APIs: Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), Location-Based Services (LBS), Multimedia Integration, Customized Messages and Alerts, Multiple Calendar and Contact List Support, Time Zone Enhancements, Décor Enhancements and SMS & MMS Listener.
The new APIs have been improved and now provide better web page rendering with AJAX, JavaScript 1.5, CSS 2.1, DOM L2 (including Core, HTML, Style, Events) and HTML 4.01 (including Forms, Maps, Tables, Frames, Objects), as well as support for downloading files via the browser.
