Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Gets Flash Lite 3.1 Update

Normally, one would expect Flash Lite updates to be delivered via firmware bump, which is a long, frustratingly slow process that can take weeks or months across all regions and product codes for any given Nokia model. But things have changed now, thanks to a new version of Flash Lite that is now available to 5800 XpressMusic owners by a very different method.

The rarely-used App Update mechanism in newer versions of S60 is being used to push out Flash Lite 3.1, which is said to enhance web browsing, add Flash 9 support, MP3 streaming and add a whole lot of other goodies. And guess what? YouTube’s now more usable with this app. Let’s hope the Nokia N97 includes this one too, right?
