Korean Government Gives More Subsidies to Phone Buyers
The Korea government is making a big change on their policy. With the subsidy bans ending next March (2008?), it will allow telco to provide up to $400 discount to phone subscribers. There are about 40 million of the country’s 49 million population carry at least one phone.
Handset subsidies have been outlawed in Korea since March 2003 to cool down cutthroat competition among wireless carriers, which had provided handsets at giveaway prices.
