Samsung Omnia 2 And LG Chocolate Touch Scheduled For August 23 At Best Buy

According to some leaked reports, the Samsung Omnia 2 and the LG Chocolate Touch BL40 are supposedly gearing for release on August 23rd. A snapshot of a leaked document from Best Buy seems to indicate this news. According to these reports, the BL40 and the Omnia 2 will be released side-by-side. A veritable clash of the titans, we say!

There are supposedly some other devices on release too, including the Samsung Rogue, Solstice and a red Xenon. There is also the mention of a Samsung Tour – we don’t quite understand that, since it’s already released on Sprint and Verizon. Samsung’s “green phone”, the Reclaim, is also set for release on August 16. Hmm, looks like a good, interesting list out here. We’re just hoping all this info is true….

MetroPCS Revises Service Plans, Offers Extra Features

MetroPCS has now revised some of its service plans and offered more features with them. Their $40 plan now comes with additional nationwide calling minutes, messaging and web data as well. The usual $45 comes with an extra unlimited email messaging service, navigation and social networking facility. The lowest priced plan, which costs $35, includes caller ID and call waiting.

Obviously, these new plans are an answer to Sprint, Boost Mobile, Cricket Wireless and other competitors’ efforts to remain on top of the market. Whatever the reason, we customers are at an advantage, aren’t we, guys?

Palm Pre Now Available At Amazon

Now you no longer need to buy your fave Palm Pre from Best Buy or Sprint. You can instead purchase it online from Amazon. The beautiful smartphone has just arrived on the super retailer’s website. The best thing about getting this phone from Amazon is that you don’t need to care about mail-in rebates and such other stuff, as it is available for a nice $199.99.

Also, you can get the Palm Pre from Amazon, without contract, for $499.99, which is a good $50 lesser than when you purchase from Sprint. Incidentally, Best Buy’s pricing for the same is $749.99, which means, purchasing from Amazon makes it dirt cheap. The catch? Well, Amazon says that they will not begin shipping for the next 4-6 weeks, which is the pathetic bit here.

Verizon Insists That It’s Getting The Palm Pre, “Early Next Year”

It’s a well-known fact that Verizon is still lusting after the Palm Pre, though the company tried very hard to play it down. Verizon’s aim was to overthrow Sprint’s hold on the smartphone. But Sprint wasn’t giving into its rival’s opinions and remarks even back then, during its launch.

Verizon, is anyway, in no mood to give up its quest for the Pre. They have now claimed that they will be getting the Palm Pre “early next year”. Of course, Palm must be feeling extremely flattered with all the attention they are getting. Good place to be, huh?
