Now Vodafone UK Romances The BlackBerry 8520 Too

We at PhoneArea were pleasantly surprised when we learnt that Vodafone UK was launching a non-3G smartphone this year, the BlackBerry 8520. Of course, this is in rumor stage yet, but considering the image below, it looks like Vodafone UK will go the T-Mobile USA way, by promoting RIM’s latest QWERTY device, the BlackBerry 8520.

Further news is that Vodafone UK plans to sell this entry-level device at an “affordable price”. This is set to launch in August, alongside T-Mobile’s own launch. Stay tuned for more on this, folks.

BlackBerry Thunder Stages A Comeback After Long

The BlackBerry Thunder had made an appearance long back and then had mysteriously disappeared into thin air, leaving the Storm to take on mobile world by veritable storm.

Now the Thunder has just as suddenly entered the scene with Verizon this week. We are not so sure about this smartphone though – it might just turn out to be the Storm 2 after all. You never know – considering the course of events, the next ones could well be named Tornado, Tsunami and so on!

T-Mobile Getting BlackBerry 8520 For Retail From August 5

We have long adored the BlackBerry 8520, also called the Gemini. We didn’t have proper info on the official release date of the smartphone though. Wal-Mart, Best Buy and others do typically get these handsets close to the release date, we still weren’t too sure about it. But now, things are different. We have now gotten official information from T-Mobile that it will be promoting the handheld.

The BlackBerry Gemini is going to be the very first one in the Curve lineup that will be doing without the usual trademark trackball and will instead feature a touch-sensitive trackpad. We think many of the BlackBerry series of phones might soon start using this feature. Anyways, the Gemini retails on T-Mobile from August 5, so those interested can please get their hands on it.

The BlackBerry Onyx With Optical Trackball Is Spotted!

RIM is now coming out like never before with its optical trackball feature. It was initially the Curve 8520 that adopted this feature. Now it’s the turn of the Onyx to be spotted with the optical trackball.

We, of course, had expected something of this sort, after having seen this 3G mix of the Curve 8900 and Bold smartphones. Well, we aren’t complaining – optical trackballs look stylish and they are of great use as well. We have no idea about availability – we’ll keep you posted when we come to know. At the moment, take a look at the pic below.
