i-mate has now launched its new rugged smartphone, the i-mate 810-F. This smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and yet, can stand some truly hostile weather and terrain conditions. Built to the MIL-STD-810F standards, the i-mate 810-F can tolerate a good deal of heat, humidity, pressure, shock and water. It is completely submersible and water-resistant.
The i-mate has all that one expects from a smartphone – a QWERTY keyboard, QVGA (240×320 pixels) touchscreen display, quad-band GSM support, tri-band UMTS, and HSDPA for high speed data connections, Wi-Fi, GPS receiver with digital compass for navigation, 2.2GB of internal storage. There is also a built-in 2MP camera that supports video recording.

i-mate and Japan Communications Inc. recently announced their plans to release the i-mate Ultimate 8502 smartphone, for the first ever time in Japan. i-mate has now received the JATE/TELEC certifications necessary to launch its product in the world’s most advanced cellular market.
