Altec Lansing Introduces The BackBeat 906 and 903 Stereo Bluetooth Headsets
Altec Lansing, a branch of Plantronics, yesterday introduced its very first stereo Bluetooth headphones, the BackBeat 906 and 903. The BackBeat 906 offers a stereo Bluetooth 2.0 adapter and the BackBeat 903 only offers the headset and not the adapter. Especially designed for those on the move always, these wearable BackBeat products offer the user the ability to access wireless stereo music and take calls without having to stop other work to do so.
These products feature OpenMic technology, which allows the user to hear outside sounds without having to take the headphones away. The Dual-Mic AudioIQ technology separates voice from noise and automatically adjusts sound, thereby giving the user great clarity during calls. The BackBeat 906 can transmit wireless stereo audio from iPods, iPhones and other MP3 devices. The 903 can work only with Bluetooth-enabled MP3 players and mobile phones.
Both the products will be available from February 2009. While the BackBeat 906 will be priced at $129.95, the BackBeat 903 will be available for $99.95.

For those of you interested in getting this for your iPhone, it’s a nice unit, but the box is misleading (or I’m an idiot). It doesn’t allow you to control the iPhone from the headphones, even with the bluetooth adapter working. Will be taking it back to the Apple store pronto.
