Expansys Confirms Sony Ericsson Rachael

Expansys has now confirmed Sony Ericsson’s move into making Android smartphones. The latest smartphone from SE is code-named Rachael and is branded the X3. The specs, as given by Expansys, include a 4” touchscreen display, 2G and 3G networks, stunning 8MP autofocus camera with LED flash, image stabilization, face detection, smile shutter and VGA video recording, email clients and accounts, WiFi, aGPS and Bluetooth.

Granted that the HTC Hero is absolutely marvellous, but the X3 comes with a 1GHz processor, so we might just be interested in ditching everything else for this one. We’ll give you more information on this one very shortly.

WiMAX-enabled Samsung Mondi On Sale On August 1st In The US

Samsung has now announced the availability of its WiMAX-enabled Mondi at Sprint’s Clearwire in Las Vegas, Atlanta and Portland from August 1st. This being US’ first WiMAX device, the Samsung Mondi is expected to be in great demand. It is said that WiMAX will be available to 10 more cities in America by the end of 2009.

We think more WiMAX devices would be introduced with time in the country, though LTE will be for more traditional devices. The Mondi is a sleek smartphone with a widget-enabled UI and powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. Other specs include a 4.3” touchscreen display, 3MP camera, 4GB built-in storage and HDMI video out. It also comes with many preloads such as Gypsii, Route 66 GPS navigation, Fring and Opera 9.5.

The Samsung Mondi will be available for $349 with a 2-year Clearwire contract and $449 without contract from Best Buy.

T-Mobile Carries On The QWERTY Tradition With The Samsung Comeback And Gravity 2

T-Mobile continues its QWERTY tradition with its Samsung phones. The latest in the line-up are the Samsung Comeback and the Samsung Gravity 2. The best feature of both these phones is, of course, the full QWERTY keyboard, which vastly helps in speedy texting. The Comeback does a side flip to show off its innards, such as a 2MP camera, QVGA display and microSD slot for up to 16GB.

The Gravity 2, on the other hand, is a traditional side-slide QWERTY device, which also features a 2MP camaera and 3G. The Comeback comes for $129.99, while the price of the Gravity 2 will be announced somewhere in August. Keep an eye on this space for more, you diehard texters!
