We have some fresh rumors on the successor of the popular Samsung Omnia smartphone. From what we have heard about the upcoming device, it will be known both as the Omnia2 and i8000. Specs-wise, two very important improvements are mentioned:
• 8.1 megapixel camera with dual-flash LED and ability to record video in VGA resolution at 30 fps
• 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA (480×800 pixels) touchscreen with 16 million colors
Additional info is that the TouchWiz UI will keep running the show on top of Windows Mobile, but will get a refresh. Samsung will have a press event on June 15th and maybe we will hear something on Omnia2 then. The original Omnia has been around for some time, so we think it is time that a new version comes in soon.

Sprint has now introduced its ridiculously-named “$39.99 Connection Plan for Corporate Liable accounts”, which, as the name suggests, is targeted specifically at companies whose mobile data needs are “moderate.” Right now it’s only available to corporate clients, but the carrier plans to expand it to other channels this summer; as Sprint says, the offer brings 2 to 10 times the data that Verizon and AT&T offer at similar price points.
But considering that one can burn through 500MB on a data card in just a few hours, we think this one’s better left to the truly infrequent users, even at the fairly reasonable 5 cents per megabyte of overage.

We all truly love the Symbian Foundation’s robo-duckie mascot, don’t we? Sadly enough for Symbian, though, it’s going to take more than just charm and grace to win over the iPhone App Store’s crop of cash-flush developers.
Apparently, Symbian was at the WWDC today, doing its best to woo, with all-day festivities involving coffee, food, a “hackathon,” prizes, and free Nokia 5800 handsets for attendees. We are expecting Ovi Store to fill in with some solid stuff as well….Take a look at the picture below and you will know what we mean.
