We all know that there are not too many smartphone users who do not use some sort of data plan or the other. But, the few T-Mobile smartphone customers who are still not making full use of their smartphone are going to find it uncomfortable. According to some sources, T-Mobile may stipulate that all new smatphones have accompanying data plans, starting as early as June.
The new smartphone data plan requirement apparently will not apply to the BlackBerry Pearl, BlackBerry Pearl Flip, Samsung Behold or Samsung Memoir. It is not clear if customers will be forced into choosing an unlimited data plan or if they will be given a choice of lower-rate data plans with lower data allowances.
Well, let us take this in a positive light – sure, it might be more expensive, but then again, so is the smartphone itself. Right? Tell us what you think.

If Microsoft could help it, Windows Mobile 6.5 wouldn’t be coming to a retail device for a few months yet, and if HTC could help it, manufacturers wouldn’t be duplicating its devices. But in this world ridden with plagiarism, a quick search on the internet could take you to a cooked 6.5 ROM. Yet another search could give you a lowdown on the shockingly numerous low-cost rips of much sought-after branded handsets.
So why are we giving you all this extra gyan? Well, the latest such knockoff is that of the Touch Viva. It is apparently based on a white-labeled Huawei platform that offers some kind of 460MHz core, quadband EDGE, a 3.2 megapixel cam, WiFi, and a 2.8-inch QVGA display.
This thingy has an utterly inconsequential design and spec sheet, but costs only about $160 or so. There is one thing here though – you will definitely make history if you ever purchased this handset!

The first among a dual release of smartphones is the WinMo 6.1-based DX900, which packs a punch of dual SIMs underneath its rather ordinary looking exterior. The DX900 also comes with triband HSDPA on top of quadband EDGE, plus a 2.8-inch VGA display, WiFi, 3MP autofocus camera, and GPS.
Next, the X960 ups the ante with HSUPA and 7.2Mbps maximum on the downlink, a revised 3D user interface, and a 3.2 megapixel cam. Both phones should be populating Europe and Asia right now.
