Nokia’s recently concluded the pilot phase of its pioneering Life Tools service in Maharashtra, India proved to be a complete hit. The service will be enabled in the Nokia 2320 Classic and Nokia 2323 Classic, which will begin shipping soon, and on more devices in the near future.

Users of the Agriculture Service could be better informed about market rates for their produce, so farmers did not have to depend on agents’ advice and they could negotiate better with them as well. This service also gave farmers access to other related information like weather, news and crop advisory services and tips for more successful harvests, so that they could plan labor, sowing, harvesting and selling better and with more accurate results.

The pilot program of Nokia Life Tools in India was launched in December 2008, with services in Agriculture, Learn English, General Knowledge and Astrology. During the pilot period, buyers of the Nokia 2600 Classic or the Nokia 1680 Classic had the option to purchase subscriptions to the Nokia Life Tools services that were most relevant to them.

Guys, it now looks like US Cellular is getting ready to offer some of today’s latest and hottest handsets to its customers. Some rumors seem to suggest that US Cellular’s product roadmap reportedly points to the HTC Touch Pro and the BlackBerry 8220 Pearl Flip, plus a few other entry-level to mid-range handsets, launching very soon, as early as over the next couple months or so.
We expect that the HTC Touch Pro will launch on April 17. The Touch Pro features a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen, 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi and slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This would be a welcome change for US Cellular, which is still stuck with the ancient HTC Mogul smartphone.

The BlackBerry 8220 Pearl Flip is expected to enter the market by mid-June. Besides the above, the Samsung Gloss U440, Samsung R311 and LG UX840 are also gearing up for launch on US Cellular.

Something that looks akin to a second-variant of the recently-leaked HTC Cedar has now surfaced at the FCC’s test labs. The “CEDA200? has already cleared the FCC, making room for this “CEDA100.”
The HTC Cedar was originally confirmed through a Bluetooth SIG leak, and this latest “CEDA100? that showed up at the FCC very recently, points to a Cedar variant. We’ve seen HTC push through CDMA and GSM variants of the same device using the “100? and “200? codenames for the FCC, so it would not come as a surprise to see the HTC Cedar coming to the US in two versions as well.
We still have no clue as to what the variant may have to offer. Let us wait and watch how things takes a turn with this one.

Word is that Sprint has decided on a vacation blackout for the month of May for all its retail employees, which would probably imply that the Pre will be launched sometime during that time.
You might remember that similar vacation freezes happened with AT&T for both Apple iPhone launches, and they were fairly accurate too. We cannot confirm this just yet, but we most certainly will keep our eyes and ears open for more. Stay tuned.
