Pantech Matrix Pro – A Detailed Review

The soap-bar shaped Pantech Matrix Pro looks very similar to the Ocean 2. Only, it is slightly heavier, which makes it quite hefty, really. But in spite of that, the curvy phone definitely sits well in the palm and is comfy to hold. The phone slides upward to reveal a numeric keyboard, while the sideway slide reveals the full QWERTY keyboard. This slide feels a bit rough on the hand. The front face controls are all cramped at the bottom and the D-pad almost touches the bottom edge of the phone, which is not great at all. The softkeys, built into the surface of the Matrix Pro, are fine.

The volume and voice record keys those are located at the left side of the Matrix Pro work just great. So does the camera key on the right. The hatch covering the data port on the right side is a bit of a headache, but the one covering the microSD slot opens easily enough. The QWERTY keyboard does not have a standard layout. It has three rows and the space bar appears between the V and B keys. The number keys are placed on the right side of the keyboard, which takes getting used to.

All-in-all, there is nothing very special about the Pantech Matrix Pro, but definitely worth a look.

Gresso, always known for its wonderful lifestyle mobile phones, has now released the Lady Diamond, its own ode to femininity, just in time for Women’s Day. This most elegant mobile phone comes in flaming red color. As usual, the mobile phone case is executed of titanium, which means, the piece is almost immutable, while also very lightweight. The case itself is covered with high-tech ceramic of Magenta Diamond color. There is a singular diamond in the covering, which adds a magnificent radiance to the case.

The navigation keys are made of gold and crowned with 4 diamonds, totally 0.44K. The functional keys are made of 18K gold using ultra-precision turning technology. The front panel of the case is ornamented with a gold triangle, which is found in all Gresso phones. The open back is, as always, executed with sapphire crystal and the display screen is covered with 42K hand-polished sapphire glass. The battery cover too has the usual stainless steel magnetic lock, with the individual number laser-engraved under the battery cover.

Windows Mobile 6 Standard powers the Gresso Lady Diamond. The additional features include 2MP camera, 2GB memory, Internet Explorer, Outlook, GPRS, Bluetooth, WAP 2.0, voice recorder, MP3 player and USB sync. Nokia Goes Artsy With Its Text Art Application

Nokia, always known to be an innovator, has actually gone ahead and become arty with its messages. Their “Text Art” widget for the E71 Eseries smartphone completely transforms your SMS messages into a beautiful work of art. This application, created by “generative artist”, Marius Watz, can either be downloaded as wallpapers or sent to friends via MMS.

We will hopefully get to see this cool application on more Nokia handsets in the near future. You never know, maybe another artist would get inspired enough to create something similar on many other platforms as well. Anyway, the Text Art application for Nokia E71 is absolutely free and can be downloaded here.
