Samsung C6620 smartphone launched in Italy

Samsung has launched its new Windows Mobile based smartphone in Italy. This BlackJack like smartphone is Samsung C6620 which has passed FCC. Samsung C6620 has an improved QWERTY keyboard with buttons alike Nokia E71 or Palm Treo.

Samsung C6620 will run Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard Edition with a 2 megapixel camera. C6620 includes a  tri-band GSM/GPRS (900/1800/1900 MHz) radio, an integrated modem, a QVGA non-touchscreen and 3G (HSDPA). It will also carry 20 MB of internal memory which would be expandable with memory cards. Surprisingly it won’t have WiFi and GPS.

However there is no word on its availability for the US market, TIM is selling the Samsung C6620 in Navy Blue, Apple Green and Wine Red color in Italy. It has a tag price of 199 EUR (~260 USD) with a contract.

Nokia announces top three winners of Mobile Games Innovation Challenge

The wait is over. Nokia has announced top three winners of Mobile Games Innovation Challenge at Nokia Games Summit awards ceremony. On first place is Ghostwire a game with unique concept. Developer A Different Game was awarded the top prize of 40,000 EUR. Ghostwire is an augmented reality-powered mini-game in which users has to use camera and other mobile features to unfold reality. This truly is an unique concept of the mobile device. Players can also use camera to communicate with the world of ghosts.

Sweden’s Jadestone and France’s C4M, Melokey stood on second place and secured 20,000 EUR. Melokey is a music game in where players play songs against each other in-game characters and compete to win the hearts of fans. Players can not only play their own favorite music but together with friends.

Watchers from Eclipse Interactive UK claimed third prize with 10,000 EUR. Watchers is a conspiracy adventure game based on Nokia Maps feature and other real world tools. The user has to explore locations to uncover clues with their wits and other necessary means to find out who they are, why they are trapped, and who is behind it all.

An independent panel of industry experts first short listed 10 best games from around the world on the basis of concept and then these three games were selected as winners. Each winner will be given a prize money and  pre-production contracts with Nokia Games Publishing.

Pantech Sky IM-U310 Presto – a real competitor to the Samsung Haptic phone?

It seems that Pantech is becoming a real competitor to the Samsung’s phones because brings new handsets with attractive designs and an advanced features which Samsung’s devices are leading. The company today announced its new Sky Presto (IM-U310 for SKT, IM-U310K for KTF) which will be available, of course, for our Korean friends.

And what does this phone include? A touch-screen, Bluetooth, DMB technology, a music player, an electronic dictionary, and 4GB external memory support. As we can see on the back of the phone it will work with 3G HSUPA networks.

And why is the name Presto? It’s a music term and that’s the priority of this phone. The Presto should be available in the next month for around 700,000 won (~557 USD). Nice!

Samsung M8800 Pixon sports 8 megapixel camera supporting MPEG4, WMV, DivX, and XviD. It supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and HSDPA 7.2Mbps (2100MHz). The Pixon also features a 3.2″ 262k TFT WQVGA LCD touchscreen, Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0, FM radio with RDS, and a music player.
