Nokia handsets buyers will get free music downloads

Nokia is launching a fresh assault on Apple’s iPhone today with a new range of phones that will give music lovers access to an unlimited service. The offer will be extended to users who are willing to buy Nokia phones. With Music pre-pay phone will be able to download up to 2.1 mil music tracks onto their computer for no extra charge for 12 months. This is about a quarter of the number available from Apple’s iTunes.

Users can then transfer these tracks to their Nokia phones and after a year users will need to buy a new device in order to continue downloading new releases so if they choose not to buy a new device, they can keep all the tracks they have already downloaded.

It seems like the first phone with this service will be Nokia 5310 XpressMusic and UK will be the first market to get Comes With Music. On the other side a bit sad news is that All five UK networks have talked with Nokia about Comes With Music but there haven’t been any developments.

The upcoming Nokia 6650 for AT&T

The 6650, announced in March is now coming with AT&T. It might be because Americans love Symbian based mobiles and AT&T would like to keep few of these phone always available for its subscribers. The Nokia 6650 will be released on AT&T Wireless with a subsidized price when signing up for a contract.

Nokia 6650 is a sleek stainless steel cover model which offers HSDPA data, QVGA display, and memory card slot. It has an integrated GPS, a 2 megapixel camera, microSD slot, FM radio and Bluetooth which will run latest version of S60: 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2. The version announced in March supported WCDMA 850/2100, for use in Europe, Asia, and Australia. The version just approved by the FCC supports WCDMA 850/1900 instead.

There are mixed rumours that Nokia 6650 will ship with the S60 OS browser which is an open source core of Nokia’s Mini Map browser or maybe it will launch with an AT&T branded Webkit browser.
