Opera Mini goes to Africa

African MTN, the telecommunications company has started to co-operate with Opera to bring mobile web browser to more than 3 million customers. In July 2008 more than 15.8 million people have used the browser with various non-WAP content, but the top sites which users most desired were Google, Yahoo, Facebook, Wikipedia, BBC, CNN etc.

“MTN has been at the forefront of bringing our customers the most innovative and efficient ways of having the world at their fingertips. With this latest addition to MTN’s solutions portfolio, we are confident that customers will find web browsing a much easier and more pleasurable experience.” said Noel Meier, MTN’s CEO. He added, “Partnering with Opera Software will enable MTN to provide this experience to our customers therefore re-affirming our commitment to being a total telecommunications solutions provider in Uganda.”

Windows Mobile 6.1 free update for AT&T’s HTC Tilt now available

HTC has been doing much for its users. With the news of HTC S740 launch favors is receiving a new upgrade it appears that from Windows Mobile 6.0 to Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. The upgrade is 100% free for AT&T HTC Tilt users.

With number of new features which have been added to the HTC Tilt the firmware upgrade which includes Windows Mobile 6.1 will also provide Threaded messaging including threaded text messages, support for Exchange Server 2007, better structured API’s which ultimately lead to better and more stable third party applications.

Available for download for AT&T Tilt users which includes HTC’s home screen, MS Voice Command, Remote Desktop Monitor, AT&T Video Share calling, OneNote Mobile, and the ability to reassign the Push-To-Talk button.

Sharp SH706iw to available for NTT DOCOMO

NTT DOCOMO today unveiled availability of Sharp’s 3G phone, the SH706iw which will be sold on Monday, September 1. The SH706iw comes equipped with a 3″ full wide VGA LCD screen with 480 × 854 pixels, a 2 megapixel CMOS camera with autofocus on the back side, microSD and microSDHC support.

The phone has been already unveiled in the end of May 2008 together with other 19 handsets. It has a compact size, about 109 x 17.8 x 50 mm and it weighs 119 g. With this phone you can call 195 minutes (in 3G), standby about 490 hours or make a video call in 105 min. NTT DOCOMO offers this handset in 2 colors: white and brown, however price has not been announced yet.

AT&T introduces new iPhone Data Plan for International Roaming

iPhone has been a pretty expensive device when it came to connections and internet surfing and that is why the device is made for. Dropped calls and poor network coverage is what all iPhone owners are complaining at all times. But here is a good news that AT&T has launched New Data Plans for iPhone users who are travelling abroad and who face high browsing charges when trying to use the internet in other countries.

From today AT&T is offering two new plans for iPhone customers travelling subscribers abroad. Package A is $120 a month for 100MB of international data and package B is $200 a month for 200MB. The best thing is that these plans can be availed and stopped at any time without any long term commitments.

These packages will help users to browse freely without paying to much for surfing the web, but what if they have to visit a place for just a week and a package is for a month time. But still the package is good in case you have you have been abroad and if you have experienced downloading a 3 minute video for 40USD which is just too much.
